But soft! What light from yonder cinema breaks? It is, in fact, a knockabout comedy on the life of Shakespeare, from the team behind Horrible Histories. At Empire Live we’ll be hosting a cast Q&A as well as a screening of the film on the big screen. So when asking yourself, “To be there or not to be there?”, it’s definitely the former. Don’t worry: this is a film about the Bard that’s lightyears better than Anonymous and there’s no danger of Gwyneth bursting into tears like Shakespeare In Love. In this incarnation, William ‘Bill’ Shakespeare (Mathew Baynton) leaves home to pursue his dream of becoming a lute player. But thanks to a spy plot and the interference of the King of Spain (Ben Willbond), young Bill finds an unexpected gift for drama and becomes the greatest playwright the world has ever seen. Eventually. First there are conspiracies to be unravelled, a nation to be saved and some very silly jokes to tell.
So cry havoc, and let slip your credit card to buy a ticket so you can join the fun and hear the cast justify their treatment of the Bard of Avon. Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond will take part in a Q&A.
And if you stay to the end of the Q&A you will be the first to see an exclusive clip from the team's new series of hit Sky show Yonderland. Featuring the always wonderful Stephen Fry as Cuddly Dick.
This event takes place at 11am-1.05pm on Saturday, 24 September.
