Ben Wheatley is one of Britain’s greatest and most prolific modern directors, and as if to prove it he’ll appear at Empire Live with not one but two movies. Wheatley will be on hand to introduce some preview footage from his next movie, Free Fire, a gripping thriller about a drug deal gone bad. With an all-star cast including Michael Smiley, Armie Hammer, Cillian Murphy, Sharlto Copley and newly-minted Oscar winner Brie Larson. We follow this up with a full screening of his all-star adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s High-Rise. Previously thought unfilmable, the movie stars Tom Hiddleston as a doctor who gets caught up in the mania that grips the inhabitants of a tower block in the 1970s. With Luke Evans, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller and Elisabeth Moss also in the cast, this darkly funny, gripping, provocative film is a must-see. This really is a double bill not to be missed.
This event takes place at 5.30-8.15pm on Sunday, 25 September.
Free Fire will be released in cinemas nationwide on 17 March 2017. High-Rise is available to buy on DVD and Blu-ray now.
