Already the biggest homegrown hit in New Zealand cinema history, this comedy is about to become one of your favourite films of 2016. Low on budget but big on heart, the latest from Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows, Thor: Ragnarok) tells the unlikely tale of two fugitives escaping from ninjas, direwolves and Child Services in the New Zealand bush. Sort of. Newcomer Julian Dennison stars as Ricky Baker, a troubled kid /wannabe gangster who has grown up in foster care. He’s placed with the caring Bella (Rima Te Wiata) and her gruff husband Hec (Sam Neill) on a remote farm, and despite himself begins to form an unlikely attachment with the pair. But a series of accidents and misunderstandings leads Ricky and Hec deep into the bush, where they become the focus of a nationwide manhunt. Can this odd couple escape? And will they drive each other crazy on the way?
This event is now sold out.
Hunt For The Wilderpeople hits cinemas nationwide on September 17.
